Happy Monday!

I want to raise my MuG to Ray Carey who provided exceptional vision and execution as NeoNova’s leader these past 6 years, and I wish him the absolute best in his new endeavor. With his departure, I am retiring the “Janitor” title, as it was uniquely Ray’s, and taking on a new title myself as President of NeoNova.

While I plan to continue the same level of customer focus and success, I have a my own style and approach. So in the spirit of the Janitor’s Corner, I will still keep you up-to-date on NeoNova news and industry information using a theme closer to my heart: A MuG with McG.

My passion for coffee began in the early 90’s when I purchased a small coffee shop after seeing an ad on my university’s bulletin board. As I discovered later, what I really bought was a bunch of debt and the right to take over the lease. But that said, I think I actually learned more practical lessons from running that coffee shop than I did in all my business classes combined. My first foray into business taught me lessons in competing, advertising, selecting high quality products, building smart business relationships, hiring good employees, dealing with local government, investing wisely, and so much more. Most importantly, it taught me what commitment to customer service really means.

While I no longer have the coffee shop, my passion for both customer service and a good cup of coffee remain. Since my entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to customers started with coffee, it seems natural to invite you to have a MuG with me!

For any of you who haven’t met me, I often go by “McG” to avoid confusion since we have so many Jasons in the office. I’ve been at NeoNova since 2008 and was the COO before becoming President. I have a lovely wife and daughter, and I’m a perennial contender in our office ice-cream making competitions. (Have you ever had chili flavored ice cream?) I love dad jokes and I play a mean dulcimer (click below to watch a video of me in action). Oh, and I definitely appreciate a good cup of fresh coffee!


On a serious note, I want to lay out my vision for NeoNova so you know where we’re heading. I’d like to reaffirm that our mission is not changing: we will continue to be driven to help you thrive by providing exceptional products and services powered by the absolute best people and technology available.

On the day-to-day business side, most of the team already reported up to me in my role as COO so it’s pretty much going to be business as usual. Of course for NeoNova, “business as usual” means driving ahead with new ideas to help you grow your business, improve efficiency, and increase stickiness with your customers!

That said, I am excited to give you a heads up about a couple of our upcoming initiatives. We have been working hard to launch an enhanced Security offering which will be ready during National Cybersecurity Month in October. We will be providing weekly security tips followed by a webinar to review best practices to protect your company and customer data. We are also getting ready for a major update on our ViewLocal managed broadband video platform, so stay tuned for that!
